Bicycles can be rented at both the Amanohashidate Pier on the Monju side and the Ichinomiya Pier on the Fuchu side.
In this guide, we’ll introduce a course starting from Amanohashidate Pier (Tango Kairiku Kotsu), just a 4-minute walk from Amanohashidate Station, and finishing at Ichinomiya Pier.

Start! From the Rotating Bridge to the Pine Forest Cycling Road

First, head to the rare “Kaisen Bridge (Sho-tenbashi)”, which rotates 90 degrees each time a boat passes.
Then cross the “O-tenbashi Bridge” and continue into the pine forest.

You’ll cycle through a beautifully maintained pine grove, enjoying refreshing breezes and a forest-bathing atmosphere.

Soon after, you’ll reach an area full of historic landmarks. The first is the “Monument to Tekkan and Akiko Yosano”.
The Yosano couple visited Amanohashidate many times and composed numerous poems here.

You’ll also find the site where the famed swordsman Iwami Jutaro
is said to have avenged his father—the “Iwami Jutaro Vengeance Site.”

Additionally, there is the “Yosa Buson Haiku Monument”, inscribed with his verse:
“Hashidate ya / matsu wa tsukihi no / kobore tane.”

place a small stone atop the torii gate and your love wish will come true.

Despite being surrounded by seawater on all sides, the spring contains no salt at all.
It was selected in 1985 as one of the Ministry of the Environment’s “100 Best Waters of Japan.”

Did you know that Amanohashidate Park has many uniquely named pine trees?

One of the most famous is the “Pine of Wisdom”, named after the proverb “Three heads make Monju’s wisdom,” featuring a single trunk that splits into three branches.

You’ll also find the elegant “Hagoromo Pine”, reminiscent of the celestial maiden in the Hagoromo legend,
and the powerful “Twin Dragon Pines”, shaped like two dragons rising skyward.

Searching for these named pines along the way makes the stroll even more exciting!

Seasonal flowers like cherry blossoms and rugosa roses bloom here, and seagulls and swans also visit.

where you can admire the entire Amanohashidate sandbar you just cycled across.
